To achieve the incredible, you have to attempt the impossible.
In 1943 when the ranks of professional male baseball players were leaving for the war, a group of ladies left their homes to become part of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and kept baseball alive for a grateful nation. This is the true story of the first pioneers who replaced their oven gloves for catcher’s mitts. A baseball scout recruits Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and her sister Kit Keller (Lori Petty) to play for the Rockford Peaches. One can catch and hit, the other can throw but is a sucker for high, fast balls. Dotti is the team's most gifted player and the camaraderie and jealousy with her sister is part of this film's charm and complexity. Other team-mates include the burly no-messing Doris (Rosie O’Donnell) and slugger Mae ‘All-The-Way’ Modabito (Madonna).
Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) is the drunken ex-player and slob manager who over time develops respect for his team, gradually learns their names and eventually brings them to success.
