Bewitched stars Elizabeth Montgomery as the beautiful young witch Samantha Stephens, very much in love with her home and family, but constantly harried by her witchy mother, Endora, to return to her witcherly ways.

Endora, played by Agnes Moorehead, is a witch of the old school who doesn't believe in any relations between mortals and her world. She can't for the life of her understand what her lovely daughter Samantha sees in that ridiculous human Darrin Stephens.

Darrin, played by Dick York and in later years by Dick Sargent, is constantly infuriated by Endora. He's in love with his very own witch and he wants her to give up witchcraft completely. Of course, if Samantha were to do that for a whole year -- no tricks at all -- she could become a mortal herself. But, this is a most remote idea for our bewitching lady. Samantha is continually tempted to use her powers, invoked by a twitch of her nose, to get her way around the house. There is also a slew of her relatives, her mother Endora, her father Maurice, practical-joking Uncle Arthur, forgetful Aunt Clara and daughter Tabatha all witches and warlocks. Samantha's mischievous look-alike, cousin Serena, is also played by Miss Montgomery.

The Stephens family constantly have to deal with Larry Tate, Darrin's long-suffering boss at the New York advertising agency of McMann and Tate, Larry's wife Louise, and their easygoing but somewhat nosy neighbours, the Kravitzes.
