Roseanne

Bringing up a family is no piece of cake...

Roseanne and Dan Connor are a suburban working class couple trying to make ends meet. They have three kids (soon to be four): Darlene, Becky and DJ. Darlene is the one who always finds the ironic side. Becky is a dumb blonde married to the even dumber Mark Healy. And DJ is the crazy 14 year old who's always doing something weird. Plots vary from personal problems (Roseanne’s annoying mother, having your old boss be your business partner) to world issues (gay rights, race relations).

The success of Roseanne no doubt led to a proliferation of sitcoms starring stand-up comedians. Several of them, including Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Grace under Fire and Everybody Loves Raymond, became major hits. By 1995 Roseanne had become the most powerful woman in domestic television earning an estimated $1 million per episode.
