They say it’s an honour to be nominated, but I think it would also be pretty cool to present an award too.
Not that the role comes without its risks and responsibilities. First there's the awkward small talk you may have to make with your co-presenter. There are lines to flub, jokes that may fall flat and embarrassing teleprompter breakdowns to contend with. Then you need to pronounce all the nominees' names right - which can be tougher than it sounds: see the list of French actors up for gongs this year from the front-runner The Artist for example. Then there's the possibly awkward opening of the envelope and then you gotta make sure you read out the correct name: see the (totally untrue) rumours about Jack Palance and Marissa Tomei at the 1993 Oscars.
It can be a tough gig doing all this in front of billions without making a mistake. Sometimes you can hit it right out of the park like Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen at the 2008 Oscars. Sometimes it can be painful, like, um, Jonah Hill and Nicki Minaj at this year's MTV VMAs. My personal favourite is Tina Fey and Robert Downey Junior's performance at the 2010 Oscars: it deserves an award itself.
This Monday at the SAG Award's we have a fantastic line-up of presenters to look forward to, ranging from legends like Larry Hagman (I Dream Of Jeannie, Dallas) and Dick Van Dyke (Diagnosis Murder) to up-and-comers like The Office's Ed Helms and John Krasinski. The full list of presenters is below.
Who will fall flat and who will hit it out of the park? Only two more sleeps before we find out!
